It’s not everyday that you meet someone who lives & breathes their craft the way that Aiden Taillard does. Let’s just start by saying that he is one of the most humble and kind humans we’ve met on this journey.
Aiden is so much more than just a guy who draws and paints… he is a sculptor, mechanic, airbrusher, car enthusiast & all round lovely human. From his lovely home he creates some of the most stunning custom pieces you’ll find. Working primarily in acrylic & charcoal and having no formal art qualification, his process is really special to experience. Using references and just having an innate knack for the arts he is able to turn just about anything into a masterpiece; not just cars… he just oozes natural talent and class when it comes to his craft.
He draws much inspiration from his childhood and shared so many nostalgic and relatable stories that we ended up overstaying our meeting time from all the chatting and laughter (sorry Aiden 😂). With his childhood love of cars it makes complete sense that his favourites are the vintage cars. He definitely has quite an old soul which we love. He also has a deep appreciation for all that YoungstaCPT stands for and has accomplished & has even dedicated a piece to him. We hope that someday he is able to meet Youngsta and share some of these stories directly with him.
Aiden grew up in Strand, where he now works from and some of his current projects include the rebuild of a MK1 Ford Escort. He often shares progress updates on his dedicated Instagram page @aidensmk1escort. He also shares more of his passion on his other page called @retroridessa where he delves into restorations, maintenance and modifications of classic cars. Always giving everything the time, love and respect that it requires to work on these high commodity cars.
If there’s one thing that really struck us in the time that we spent with Aiden it’s that nothing compares to passion. When someone’s truly passionate about what they’re doing it’s hard to not share in it with them. Aiden lives and breathes cars and art. And we think he always has…
Give him a follow on @aiden_taillard & get him to do a commissioned piece of your ride too. He is one of a kind. Mind you, the owner of the chocolate brown MK2 Escort (previously featured on Engine Block) had a custom piece of his ride done by Aiden.
Support local, support Aiden.
Such a gentle soul. Loved spending time in his work space to see where the magic is made!
